Light Display on Building Exterior

After successfully completing the Schoenhauser Tor project in Berlin, and before ascertaining the first impressions of the implemented changes, the architect, Ursula Heyer, and the architect and designer of this project, Resa Gartner of Neo System Architects, described the effect this way: "The LED installation blends placidly into the entranceway and underlines its overall elegance."

The more accurately the ideas and concepts in implementing the design were followed, all the more impressive was each new development. In addition to the design aspects, construction supervision and technical requirements which had to be met, a long and constructive process was required to achieve and implement the desired results.

The contemporary new design of the entranceway to this office building extends moderately out of the existing stone facade and escorts the visitor through a light-filled vestibule into the atrium in the interior. Distinctive design elements of the wall panelling in the vestibule are the so-called "Knopffraesungen" (button millings), which give it a character of being modelled after a quilted cushion surface with buttons. In the interior, the repetitive design of the entranceway cladding provides an overall "entryway" concept that is coherent and round.

With a particularly shallow gap depth and width between the individual components, an impression of a slightly screen-like, yet homogeneous surface of the wall panelling is achieved. On the exterior, a special effect is created based on LED-screenbacklighting of the archway facade.

The electronic controller for each individual LED makes it possible to display raster images of fonts and symbols in addition to moving patterns.
